Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tsp canola oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1.5 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp green onion whites, chopped

Instructions

  1. Toss the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, oil, and cornstarch in a bowl until evenly coated.
  2. Whisk together soy sauce, honey, water, sugar, red pepper flakes, paprika, and minced garlic in a small bowl until combined.
  3. Heat a splash of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the chicken, and cook for 6-8 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Remove chicken from the pan, then add the green onion whites to the same skillet, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan and simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan and toss for 1 minute to coat thoroughly before serving.
