Soy Marinated Drunken Eggs by Youknwbrandon
Soft-boiled eggs marinated in a savory, aromatic soy-based sauce with garlic, chili, and rice wine.

Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 3 stalks green onions, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 jalapeno, diced
- 1 tsp korean red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp msg (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Gently lower eggs into the boiling water and cook for exactly 7 minutes for a soft-set yolk.
- Remove eggs immediately and transfer to an ice bath for 5-10 minutes to stop the cooking process.
- Peel the eggs carefully under cool running water and set aside.
- Whisk together the soy sauce, water (or broth), mirin, rice wine vinegar, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, green onions, garlic, jalapeno, red pepper flakes, and MSG in a container.
- Submerge the peeled eggs in the marinade, ensuring they are fully covered.
- Refrigerate for at least 8 hours (overnight) or up to one week before serving.
