Unique take on samosas using soft bread instead of traditional pastry for a delightful twist.
Serves: 4Prep: 20 minCook: 25 min
Ingredients
- 8 slices bread (from @supaloafofficial)
- 250g (1/2 lb) minced meat
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced meat to the pan and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Remove the filling from heat and let it cool slightly until ready to serve.
- Prepare the bread: Trim the crusts from each slice of bread until ready to serve.
- Lightly flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin until ready to serve.
- Place a portion of the meat filling onto one half of each flattened bread slice until ready to serve.
- Fold the other half of the bread over the filling to create a pocket. Press the edges firmly to seal over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
- Use the beaten egg to help seal the edges if needed, ensuring no filling can escape until ready to serve.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep pan or pot over medium-high heat to about 170°C (340°F).
- Carefully fry the bread samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove the fried samosas with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
