Fresh Homemade Pesto by Tyler Butt Nutrition Home Cooking
Vibrant, aromatic basil pesto blended with toasted pine nuts, sharp parmesan, and bright citrus zest.

Ingredients
- 60g (2 oz) fresh basil leaves, packed
- 60g (2 oz) pine nuts, toasted
- 60g (2 oz) parmesan cheese, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1 whole lemon, zested
- 1/2 whole lemon, juiced
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
- 100ml (1/2 cup) extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Toast the pine nuts in a dry pan over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden and fragrant, then set aside to cool.
- Place the basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, parmesan, garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice into a food processor.
- Pulse the mixture briefly to break down the solid ingredients.
- Drizzle in the olive oil while the processor is running until the pesto reaches your desired consistency, about 1-2 minutes.
- Season with salt to taste and pulse once more to incorporate.
