No-Knead Kozunak (Vanilla) by Tonchevdimitar

No-knead vanilla kozunak enriched with egg yolks, sugar, and butter.

Ingredients

  • 250g milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 50g sugar
  • 12g cornstarch
  • 12g flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 50-100g butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, flour, and salt over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the vanilla cream into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming until ready to serve.
  5. Chill the cream in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until completely cold.
  6. This chilled vanilla cream is then used as a filling for the kozunak, as shown in the previous video until ready to serve.
