Bacon Cheddar Smash Burger by Tinaseats

Juicy beef patties packed with crispy bacon and spicy cheddar, seared to a golden, caramelized finish.

Ingredients

  • 900g (2 lbs) ground beef (7% fat)
  • 150g (1/3 lbs) bacon, par-cooked and chopped
  • 85g (3 oz) habanero jalapeño cheddar, diced
  • 180ml (3/4 cup) italian bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, chopped par-cooked bacon, diced cheddar, bread crumbs, eggs, and salt in a large mixing bowl until ready to serve.
  2. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat to ensure tenderness.
  3. Form the mixture into 6 equal-sized balls, handling them lightly until ready to serve.
  4. Heat a heavy-bottomed cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until very hot.
  5. Place the beef balls onto the hot surface and smash them flat using a heavy spatula, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side until deeply browned and cooked through.
