Classic Southern-Style Banana Pudding by Thusmokingvip
Layers of fresh sliced bananas and crisp vanilla wafers in a rich, velvety vanilla custard.

Ingredients
- 4 cup whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large egg yolks
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 large bananas, sliced
- 12 oz vanilla wafer cookies
Instructions
- Whisk sugar, flour, and egg yolks in a medium saucepan until smooth, then gradually stir in the milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, then let the custard cool for 5 minutes.
- Layer the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish with a single layer of vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas.
- Pour half of the warm custard over the fruit and cookies, then repeat with a second layer of cookies, bananas, and the remaining custard.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the wafers to soften.
