Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl, then set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 1 to 2 minutes until it forms a thick paste.
- Whisk in the egg and vanilla until fully combined.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until no dry streaks remain.
- Stir in the chocolate chips with a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
- Scoop 9 dough portions onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart so they can spread.
- Bake for 12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers still look soft and gooey.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt right away, then cool completely before serving.
