Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, about 5 minutes.
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl; set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 1 to 2 minutes until it looks like a paste.
- Whisk in the egg and vanilla until fully combined, about 30 seconds.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until no flour streaks remain, then stir in the chocolate chips without overmixing.
- Scoop 9 portions onto the prepared tray, spacing them apart and baking no more than 4 cookies per 15 x 10-inch tray.
- Bake for 12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers still look soft and gooey.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt right away, then cool completely on the tray before serving.
