Serves: 9Prep: 15 minCook: 12 min

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, about 5 minutes.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl; set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 1 to 2 minutes until it looks like a paste.
  4. Whisk in the egg and vanilla until fully combined, about 30 seconds.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until no flour streaks remain, then stir in the chocolate chips without overmixing.
  6. Scoop 9 portions onto the prepared tray, spacing them apart and baking no more than 4 cookies per 15 x 10-inch tray.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the centers still look soft and gooey.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt right away, then cool completely on the tray before serving.
