Steak Sandwiches with Garlic Aioli by Shelbyaustinn

Tender seared sirloin on toasted ciabatta with a zesty garlic aioli and crispy baked potato fries.

Serves: 2Prep: 15 minCook: 40 min

Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) sirloin steak
  • 2 tbsp butter (for steak)
  • 1 ciabatta baguette
  • 2 tbsp butter (for bread)
  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp italian herb seasoning
  • 2 russet potatoes, cut into fries
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Toss the cut potato fries with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy.
  3. While fries bake, whisk together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, and a dash of salt in a small bowl to make the aioli.
  4. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with 2 tablespoons of butter and sear the steak to your desired doneness, approximately 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  6. Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing thinly.
  7. Slice the ciabatta baguette, spread with 2 tablespoons of butter, and toast in a pan until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the sandwiches by spreading the garlic aioli on the toasted bread and layering with the sliced steak.
