Ingredients

  • 3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Whisk eggs and water together in a separate bowl
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients while mixing to form a smooth, thick batter.
  4. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil
  6. Scrape the batter through a spätzle maker or the large holes of a colander into the boiling water.
  7. Cook the spätzle until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove the spätzle with a slotted spoon and transfer to a bowl.
  9. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  10. Add the cooked spätzle to the skillet and sauté for a few minutes until lightly golden and heated through.
