My Ultimate Chicken Gyros by Samsationaleats

Marinated chicken thigh gyros served with warm flatbread, salad, and a creamy yogurt-style sauce.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken thigh, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 0.5 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with olive oil, oregano, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
  2. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 10-12 minutes, flipping occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred.
  3. Warm the pita breads on the grill or in a dry pan for about 1 minute per side until pliable.
  4. Cook assemble the gyros: spread tzatziki sauce onto a warm pita, then fill with the grilled chicken, sliced cucumber, tomatoes, and red onion over medium heat.
