Serves: 4Prep: 15 minCook: 20 min
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 12 taco shells or tortillas (corn or flour)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup chopped white onion (optional)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully browned, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- While the beef simmers, prepare your toppings: shred lettuce, dice tomato, chop onion, and shred cheese if not pre-shredded.
- Warm the taco shells or tortillas according to package directions. For soft tortillas, heat in a dry skillet for 15-20 seconds per side, or microwave briefly. For hard shells, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes until crisp.
- Spoon the seasoned ground beef into the warm taco shells or tortillas. Top with shredded lettuce, cheese, diced tomato, and chopped onion.
- Serve immediately with sour cream and salsa on the side.
