Easy & Satisfying Tuna Melt by Runandeatwithjack

classic tuna melt made with simple ingredients for a deeply satisfying and cheap meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sandwich bread
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2-3 slices tomato
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can tuna, drained
  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp pickles, chopped
  • 1 tsp jalapenos, chopped
  • 1 tsp chives, chopped
  • 1 tsp dill, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 2 slices mature cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Butter the inside of two slices of sandwich bread.
  2. Layer tomato slices on one slice of bread and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, combine drained tuna, red onion, pickles, jalapenos, chives, dill, chili flakes, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Mix well
  4. Scoop the tuna mixture onto the tomatoes and shape it into a slight trench.
  5. Place the cheese slices on top of the tuna mixture.
  6. Top with the other slice of bread, butter-side down.
  7. Melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat.
  8. Place the sandwich in the pan and toast slowly for about 5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
