Creamy French Onion Protein Pasta by Rileysstupidrecipes

Protein pasta shells tossed in a rich parmesan cream sauce with caramelized onions and crispy bacon.

Ingredients
- 1 box (8 oz) protein pasta shells
- 3 yellow onions, diced
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3.25 cup beef bone broth
- 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
- 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 slices center cut bacon, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp roasted garlic and onion seasoning
- 1 tsp dried parsley
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until the bottoms brown.
- Deglaze the pan with small splashes of water, stirring frequently, repeating until onions are deeply caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Add diced bacon to the pan and cook until crispy.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef bone broth and add the dry protein pasta.
- Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and most of the broth is absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and heavy whipping cream until the sauce is creamy and emulsified.
- Top with mozzarella cheese, cover briefly to melt, and garnish with parsley before serving.
