Protein pasta shells tossed in a rich parmesan cream sauce with caramelized onions and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

  • 1 box (8 oz) protein pasta shells
  • 3 yellow onions, diced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3.25 cup beef bone broth
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices center cut bacon, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp roasted garlic and onion seasoning
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until the bottoms brown.
  2. Deglaze the pan with small splashes of water, stirring frequently, repeating until onions are deeply caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add diced bacon to the pan and cook until crispy.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the beef bone broth and add the dry protein pasta.
  6. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and most of the broth is absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
  7. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and heavy whipping cream until the sauce is creamy and emulsified.
  8. Top with mozzarella cheese, cover briefly to melt, and garnish with parsley before serving.
