Classic, flaky Sardinian pastry dough crafted with simple ingredients for sweet or savory fillings.

Ingredients

  • 500g (4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 100g (1/2 cup) lard, softened
  • 200ml (3/4 cup) warm water
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Place the flour in a large mixing bowl and create a well in the center until ready to serve.
  2. Add the softened lard and salt into the center of the flour.
  3. Gradually pour in the warm water while mixing by hand until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and non-sticky.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before rolling out.
