Classic Apple Crumble by Reemaislam

Tender spiced apples topped with a buttery, golden-brown oat crumble, served best with warm custard.

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Place sliced apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and 2 tbsp butter into a pan over medium heat.
  2. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are slightly softened.
  3. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, white sugar, cold butter, and milk in a bowl; mix with your hands or a fork until a crumbly texture forms.
  4. Transfer the cooked apples into an oven-safe baking dish.
  5. Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the top of the apples.
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
