Chocolate Toothpaste Tart by Reemaislam

Smooth, dense chocolate cream set in a crisp pastry shell with a unique, velvety texture.

Ingredients

  • 115g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 50g (1/2 cup) hot chocolate powder
  • 30g (1/4 cup) cocoa powder
  • 100g (1 cup) dried milk powder
  • 120ml (1/2 cup) warm water
  • 1 pre-made or homemade tart pastry shell (9-inch)

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and sugar together in a mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the hot chocolate powder and cocoa powder to the butter mixture and beat on low speed until fully incorporated.
  3. Whisk the dried milk powder and warm water together in a separate bowl until smooth and dissolved.
  4. Pour the milk mixture into the chocolate butter mixture and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until a thick, smooth paste forms.
  5. Spread the chocolate paste evenly into the prepared pastry shell using a spatula.
  6. Refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours, or until the filling is firm and set, before slicing.
