Crispy fried chicken served over fluffy waffles and drizzled with a warm, buttery pecan maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken tenders or boneless thighs
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cup waffle mix
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup cinnamon
  • 4 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak chicken in milk and hot sauce for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Whisk flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl; dredge chicken pieces until evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F; fry chicken for 5–6 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Prepare waffle batter by mixing waffle mix, milk, egg, and melted butter according to package instructions
  5. Cook waffles in a preheated waffle iron until golden and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
  6. Warm maple syrup, 1 tbsp butter, pecans, and cinnamon in a small saucepan over low heat until butter is melted and syrup is fragrant.
  7. Stack waffles on a plate, top with fried chicken, and drizzle generously with the warm pecan syrup.
