Savory steak and melted cheese pockets sealed in soft bread, baked until golden and crisp.

Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) thinly sliced steak (e.g., steak-umm)
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Sauté the diced onion and bell pepper in a pan over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the thinly sliced steak to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
  3. Place one slice of provolone cheese and a portion of the steak mixture onto the center of four bread slices.
  4. Top with the remaining bread slices and use a large circular cookie cutter or a glass to cut out the pockets, pressing firmly to seal the edges.
  5. Brush the tops of the pockets with melted butter.
  6. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, watching closely to prevent burning.
