Caramelized Croissant French Toast by Platesbykody

Buttery, flaky croissants seared in a sweet, golden syrup for a decadent breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 large croissants, sliced in half horizontally
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
  2. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, pour in the maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt, stirring to combine.
  3. Place the croissant halves cut-side down into the syrup mixture.
  4. Cook for 3-4 minutes, pressing down gently, until the bottom is deeply caramelized and golden brown.
  5. Flip the croissants and cook for another 2 minutes on the top side to warm through and glaze.
  6. Remove from the pan immediately and serve while warm.
