Classic Pepper Steak by One Stop Chop
Tender strips of seared steak and crisp bell peppers in a savory, aromatic soy glaze.

Ingredients
- 680g (1.5 lbs) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 large bell peppers, cut into 1-inch squares
- 1 large yellow onion, cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch in a small bowl to create the sauce
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Sear the steak strips in batches for 2–3 minutes until browned, then remove from the pan and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan, then stir-fry the onion and bell peppers for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the steak to the pan and pour the sauce over the mixture
- Cook for 2 minutes, tossing constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
- Remove from heat, stir in the sesame oil and black pepper, and serve immediately
