Classic Pepper Steak by One Stop Chop

Ingredients

  • 680g (1.5 lbs) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 large bell peppers, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 1 large yellow onion, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch in a small bowl to create the sauce
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Sear the steak strips in batches for 2–3 minutes until browned, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan, then stir-fry the onion and bell peppers for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Return the steak to the pan and pour the sauce over the mixture
  6. Cook for 2 minutes, tossing constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
  7. Remove from heat, stir in the sesame oil and black pepper, and serve immediately
