Caramel Cinnamon Donuts by Nourishwithtan

Baked protein donuts infused with caramel notes and finished with a classic cinnamon sugar coating.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup caramel donut protein powder
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for coating)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a donut pan lightly with cooking spray.
  2. Whisk together the flour, protein powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
  3. Add the milk, egg, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter, stirring until just combined into a smooth batter.
  4. Pipe or spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full until ready to serve.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Dip each warm donut into the remaining melted butter, then roll immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly until ready to serve.
