Healthier halva-inspired dessert made with dates, tahini, cardamom, and pistachios.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups pitted Medjool dates
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp fine salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped pistachios, for topping

Instructions

  1. Soak the dates in hot water for 5 minutes if they are dry, then drain well.
  2. Blend the dates, tahini, cardamom, and salt for 1 to 2 minutes until a thick, smooth paste forms.
  3. Press the mixture into a small lined loaf pan or dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the surface and press them in lightly.
  5. Chill for at least 30 minutes until firm, then slice or scoop to serve.
