Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas, coarsely mashed
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch or rice flour
  • 2 tbsp oil for shallow frying
  • 1/2 cup whisked yogurt
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 1 tbsp green mint chutney

Instructions

  1. Combine mashed potatoes, chickpeas, onions, coriander, ginger-garlic paste, spices, and cornstarch in a bowl and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4-6 round, flat patties.
  3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat and shallow fry the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Arrange the hot tikkis on a plate and drizzle with whisked yogurt, tamarind chutney, and green chutney.
  5. Garnish with extra coriander or sev if desired and serve immediately.
