Cheesy Pizza Pinwheels by Mygourmetstory

Flaky puff pastry pinwheels filled with a savory blend of cheeses and rich pizza sauce, perfect as a quick appetizer.

Serves: 4Prep: 15 minCook: 20 min

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mozzarella and cheddar cheese mix
  • 1/2 cup shredded cottage cheese
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1.5 tbsp pizza sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 1 tbsp milk or beaten egg (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mozzarella and cheddar mix, shredded cottage cheese, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper powder, pizza sauce, and melted butter. Mix well until the filling is evenly combined.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface or its own parchment paper. Spread the cheese and pizza sauce mixture evenly over the entire surface, leaving a small border on one long edge.
  4. Starting from the opposite long edge, carefully roll the pastry sheet tightly into a log.
  5. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels. Arrange the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  6. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with milk or beaten egg for a golden glaze.
  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before serving warm.
