A whole chicken cooked upright on a beer can with a smoky paprika rub.

Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (about 1.5kg)
- 1 can of beer (330ml)
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
Instructions
- Mix the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and oregano into a rub.
- Rub the chicken all over with the olive oil, then coat it everywhere with the smoky rub.
- Open the beer, pour out a third, and sit the chicken upright onto the can so it stands on the grate.
- Cook over indirect heat with the lid down for about an hour and a quarter until the juices run clear.
- Lift it off the can carefully, rest for 10 min, then carve.
