Crispy Cheesy Potato Balls by Martinsternbergs

Crispy golden potato spheres filled with a molten, gooey cheese center and served warm.

Ingredients

  • 500g (1.1 lb) potatoes, peeled and boiled
  • 100g (3.5 oz) mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 500ml (2 cup) vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Mash the boiled potatoes in a large bowl until smooth, then stir in salt and pepper.
  2. Take a small portion of mashed potato, flatten it in your palm, place a cheese cube in the center, and roll into a tight ball.
  3. Dip each potato ball into the beaten egg, then roll in bread crumbs until evenly coated.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Fry the potato balls in batches for 3-4 minutes until they reach a deep golden brown color.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving hot
