Ingredients

  • 2 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 1/2 cup toasted pine nuts
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for consistency
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the pine nuts, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper in a food processor and pulse until finely chopped, about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the basil leaves to the food processor and pulse until incorporated, about 15 seconds.
  3. Drizzle in the olive oil with the motor running and process until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the Parmesan cheese and pulse briefly to combine, about 10 seconds; add more olive oil if a thinner consistency is desired.
