Cantonese-Style Steamed Garlic Ribs with Taro by Lillychilioil
Tender pork ribs and starchy taro root steamed together in a fragrant, savory garlic-infused sauce.

Ingredients
- 500g (1.1 lb) pork spare ribs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 300g (10 oz) taro, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for cleaning ribs)
- 3 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
Instructions
- Place the rib pieces in a bowl, add the all-purpose flour, and massage for 1 minute to draw out impurities, then rinse thoroughly with cold water and pat dry.
- Combine the cleaned ribs with minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and white pepper in a bowl; marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Arrange the sliced taro in a single layer at the bottom of a heat-proof steaming dish.
- Place the marinated ribs on top of the taro in an even layer.
- Set up a steamer with water boiling on high heat, place the dish inside, cover, and steam for 20 minutes until the ribs are cooked through and the taro is tender.
