Ingredients
- 450g (1 lb) flank steak, sliced 1/4 inch thick against the grain
- 300g (10 oz) broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch (for marinade)
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp rice cooking wine
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for sauce)
- 2 tbsp neutral oil, for frying
Instructions
- Combine sliced beef with soy sauce, sesame oil, 1 tsp cornstarch, and baking soda in a bowl; massage well and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Whisk together beef broth, rice cooking wine, oyster sauce, and 1 tbsp cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat; sear the beef in batches until browned, about 1-2 minutes per batch, then remove.
- Add remaining oil to the hot wok, add the garlic and broccoli florets, stir-frying for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Return the beef to the wok, pour in the sauce mixture, and toss everything together for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
