Orange Cardamom Sweet Rolls by Lemonblossomsblog
Soft, fluffy yeast-leavened rolls spiced with cinnamon and cardamom, finished with a tangy orange cream cheese glaze.

Ingredients
- 4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm whole milk (110°f)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp fresh orange zest
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl, then stir in warm milk, melted butter, and egg until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Roll out the risen dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
- Spread a thin layer of butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
- Arrange rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
- Whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth, then spread over warm rolls.
