Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 4 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for garnish)
Instructions
- Combine rice, milk, cinnamon sticks, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom, for 30-35 minutes.
- Stir in the sugar and continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes until the rice is tender and the milk has thickened to a custard-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Discard the cinnamon sticks and transfer to serving bowls.
- Dust with ground cinnamon before serving warm or chilled.
