Ingredients
- 3 cup bread flour
- 3 tbsp butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup warm milk
- 3 tsp yeast
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the eggs and room temperature butter to the yeast mixture and whisk to combine over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
- Gradually add the bread flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness until ready to serve.
- Cut out doughnut shapes using a doughnut cutter or two different sized round cutters until ready to serve.
- Place the cut doughnuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry the doughnuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Remove doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
- Once cooled slightly, you can glaze or frost them as desired until ready to serve.
