Sticky Sesame Crispy Air Fryer Tofu by Kiramukerji

Crispy air-fried tofu tossed in a thick, sticky sesame-soy glaze, ready in 20 minutes.

Ingredients
- 1 block (400g) extra firm tofu
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 green onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Boil tofu block in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain and pat dry. Cut into bite-sized cubes.
- Toss tofu cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until evenly coated.
- Air fry tofu at 200°C (390°F) for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crispy.
- While tofu cooks, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, minced garlic, and sliced green onion in a small bowl.
- Pour sauce into a small pan over medium heat and bring to a simmer, about 2–3 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry, then whisk into the simmering sauce. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
- Add the crispy tofu to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sticky sauce. Serve immediately over rice.
