Buttery, crisp crackers topped with a rich, molten toffee layer, dark chocolate, and festive salty-sweet inclusions.

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve (approx. 30 crackers) ritz crackers
  • 225g (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 200g (1 cup) packed light brown sugar
  • 300g (2 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter m&ms
  • 1/2 cup pretzels, crushed
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange the Ritz crackers in a single, tight layer across the bottom of the prepared sheet.
  3. Combine the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, bringing to a boil for 3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers, tilting the pan to ensure full coverage.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, then remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot surface.
  6. Return to the oven for 1-2 minutes to soften the chocolate, then use a spatula to spread it into an even layer.
  7. Top immediately with M&Ms, crushed pretzels, and nuts while the chocolate is still melted.
  8. Cool completely at room temperature, then chill in the freezer for 20 minutes before breaking into shards.
