Homemade Nacho Cheese Sauce by Joshua Weissman Recipes

Smooth, molten cheese sauce easily customized with your favorite melting cheeses for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 225g (8 oz) cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Toss the shredded cheese with cornstarch in a medium bowl until evenly coated.
  2. Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to steam, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the cheese mixture to the milk in small handfuls, whisking constantly until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the garlic powder, paprika, and salt until fully incorporated.
  5. Remove from heat immediately once the sauce reaches a thick, pourable consistency.
