Miso Butter Braised Cabbage Rolls by Jamievespamsrd

Tender cabbage rolls filled with savory gingery chicken and rice, braised in a rich miso butter sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup cooked long-grain white rice
  • 1/2 cup green onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp tamari
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until pliable; drain and set aside to cool.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine ground chicken, cooked rice, half of the green onions, garlic, ginger, 1 tbsp tamari, and sesame oil.
  3. Place 2-3 tablespoons of filling onto each cabbage leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly to secure
  4. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat, then whisk in miso paste, broth, lemon juice, and remaining tamari until smooth.
  5. Place cabbage rolls seam-side down in the skillet and simmer covered for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Remove lid, spoon sauce over the rolls, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce slightly before serving.
