Serves: 2Prep: 20 minCook: 1 hr 30 min
Ingredients
- 300g (2 1/2 cup) strong bread flour
- 7g (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 5g (1 tsp) fine sea salt
- 200ml (3/4 cup + 2 tbsp) warm water (around 40°c/105°f)
- 15ml (1 tbsp) olive oil, plus extra for greasing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until a foamy layer appears on top, indicating the yeast is active.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms and all ingredients are incorporated.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky to the touch.
- Lightly grease a clean bowl with olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turning once to coat all sides. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it has visibly doubled in size.
- Once risen, gently punch down the dough to release the accumulated air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape into your desired pizza crust.
