Ingredients
- 1.5 lb ground beef (80/20 chuck)
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 0.5 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp ketchup
- 4 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Gently mix ground beef with salt and pepper in a bowl. Form into four 1-inch thick patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each
- Preheat a grill or large skillet to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F).
- Place patties on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached, flipping once.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
- Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a dry pan for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Assemble burgers: spread ketchup and mustard on toasted buns, then add a cheesy patty, lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion. Serve immediately.
