Tuna Tataki with Smacked Cucumber by Itsuofficial

Seared sesame-crusted tuna served with a sharp, crunchy cucumber salad.

Ingredients
- 1 tuna steak, about 8 oz
- 2 tbsp black and white sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cucumber
- 2 tsp crispy chili oil
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 garlic clove, grated
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Brush the tuna steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, then coat all sides evenly with the sesame seeds.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until very hot, about 2 minutes.
- Sear the tuna for 20 seconds per side, turning to brown the entire surface while keeping the center rare.
- Transfer the tuna to a board and rest for 1 minute, then slice with smooth gliding motions.
- Smack the cucumber with the flat side of a knife, then cut into bite-size chunks.
- Toss the cucumber with crispy chili oil, soy sauce, vinegar, grated garlic, and green onions until glossy.
- Serve the sliced tuna alongside the cucumber salad immediately.
