Greek-Inspired Meatballs with Roasted Pepper Sauce by Itsnormalfood

Ingredients
- 225g (0.5 lb) ground lamb
- 250g (0.55 lb) ground beef
- 1 egg
- 0.5 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp shawarma seasoning
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp neutral oil (for searing)
- 0.5 head lettuce, shredded
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 0.5 cucumber, diced
- 0.5 cup pepperoncini, sliced
- 100g feta cheese, crumbled
- 0.5 cup roasted red bell peppers, sliced
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for salad dressing)
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
Instructions
- Combine ground lamb, ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, shawarma seasoning, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Form the meat mixture into 12 medium-sized, uniform meatballs.
- Heat neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the meatballs until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes until cooked through.
- Prepare the salad by tossing shredded lettuce, red onion, diced cucumber, pepperoncini, feta cheese, and roasted red bell peppers in a large bowl.
- Whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper, then drizzle over the salad just before serving.
- Blend mayonnaise with the remaining roasted red bell peppers, a pinch of salt, and pepper in a food processor until smooth.
- Serve the warm meatballs alongside the salad and drizzle with the roasted pepper sauce.
