Cinnamon Sugar Churro Chips by Hotspice Palette

Crispy fried flour tortilla triangles tossed in fragrant cinnamon sugar for a sweet, crunchy treat.

Ingredients

  • 6 flour tortillas (8-inch)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cut the flour tortillas into 8 even wedges each using a sharp knife or pizza cutter until ready to serve.
  2. Whisk the sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow bowl until well combined.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the tortilla wedges in small batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the chips from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain briefly on paper towels over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
  6. Brush the warm chips lightly with melted butter, then toss immediately in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
