High Protein Black Pepper Beef Garlic Rice by Hlthguru

Tender velveted beef in a savory black pepper sauce served with fragrant garlic fried rice.

Ingredients
- 800g lean beef, thinly sliced
- 20ml dark soy sauce (for marinade)
- 20ml light soy sauce (for marinade)
- 2 tsp black pepper (for marinade)
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 25g cornflour
- 3 tsp olive oil
- 200ml beef broth
- 20ml dark soy sauce (for sauce)
- 30ml light soy sauce (for sauce)
- 25g hoisin sauce
- 20ml rice vinegar
- 1 tsp black pepper (for sauce)
- 10g cornflour (for sauce)
- 40g light butter, divided
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 50g garlic, chopped
- 540g cooked leftover rice
- 20ml light soy sauce (for rice)
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Combine beef with marinade ingredients (dark soy, light soy, pepper, garlic powder, baking soda, cornflour, olive oil) and mix well to coat.
- Whisk together beef broth, dark soy, light soy, hoisin, rice vinegar, pepper, and cornflour in a small bowl until smooth.
- Heat 20g butter in a pan over high heat; sear beef for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy, then set aside.
- Sauté onions and bell peppers in the same pan for 5 minutes until soft.
- Return beef to the pan, pour in the prepared sauce, and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened and glossy.
- In a separate pan, melt remaining 20g butter and cook chopped garlic until golden and fragrant.
- Add rice and 20ml soy sauce to the garlic; stir-fry for 3 minutes until well combined and hot.
- Serve the beef mixture over the garlic fried rice.
