Serves: 2Prep: 10 minCook: 15 min

Ingredients

  • 1 whole napa cabbage
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 100 ml heavy cream
  • 2 slices cheese (cheddar or gruyere)
  • 2 tbsp white wine
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cut the napa cabbage into 4 even wedges.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the cabbage wedges until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Season with salt, cover with a lid slightly ajar, and steam for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  4. Add the minced garlic and butter to the pan, basting the cabbage for 1 minute, then remove cabbage to a serving plate.
  5. In the same pan, pour in the white wine and heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits.
  6. Stir in the cheese, pepper, and nutmeg, simmering for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Pour the warm cheese sauce over the seared cabbage and serve immediately.
