Cozy Pan-Seared Napa Cabbage by Guytruong

Pan-seared napa cabbage wedges served in a rich white wine and melted cheese cream sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 whole napa cabbage
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 100 ml heavy cream
- 2 slices cheese (cheddar or gruyere)
- 2 tbsp white wine
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Cut the napa cabbage into 4 even wedges.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the cabbage wedges until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Season with salt, cover with a lid slightly ajar, and steam for 5-7 minutes until tender.
- Add the minced garlic and butter to the pan, basting the cabbage for 1 minute, then remove cabbage to a serving plate.
- In the same pan, pour in the white wine and heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits.
- Stir in the cheese, pepper, and nutmeg, simmering for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Pour the warm cheese sauce over the seared cabbage and serve immediately.
