Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Pat chicken breasts dry and slice them into fry-shaped strips, about 1/2-inch thick and 3-4 inches long. Season lightly with salt and pepper
- Set up a breading station: Place flour in a shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second dish, and in a third dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, and ranch seasoning mix.
- Dredge each chicken strip first in flour, shaking off excess. Then dip into beaten egg, ensuring full coverage, letting excess drip off. Finally, coat thoroughly in the panko-cheddar-ranch mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep pot over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add chicken fries in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Adjust heat as needed to maintain oil temperature.
- Remove cooked chicken fries with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack set over paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
