Crispy chicken strips coated in a savory cheddar and ranch breading, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Serves: 4Prep: 20 minCook: 15 min

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken breasts dry and slice them into fry-shaped strips, about 1/2-inch thick and 3-4 inches long. Season lightly with salt and pepper
  2. Set up a breading station: Place flour in a shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second dish, and in a third dish, combine panko breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, and ranch seasoning mix.
  3. Dredge each chicken strip first in flour, shaking off excess. Then dip into beaten egg, ensuring full coverage, letting excess drip off. Finally, coat thoroughly in the panko-cheddar-ranch mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep pot over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add chicken fries in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Adjust heat as needed to maintain oil temperature.
  6. Remove cooked chicken fries with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack set over paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
