Ingredients

  • 4 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Trim the crusts off all 4 slices of bread using a sharp knife until ready to serve.
  2. Pour the milk into a shallow bowl and quickly dip each slice of bread until just moistened.
  3. Squeeze the bread gently to remove excess milk, then roll and shape each slice into a donut ring until ready to serve.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a small pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the bread donuts for 1-2 minutes per side until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel; optionally toss in sugar while still warm over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
