Basil Oil Caprese Salad by Foodallitaliana

Sliced ripe tomatoes and fresh mozzarella layered with a vibrant basil-infused olive oil and sea salt.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe round tomatoes, sliced
  • 500g fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Slice the 4 ripe round tomatoes and 500g fresh mozzarella into even rounds.
  2. Arrange the sliced tomatoes and mozzarella on a serving plate, alternating one slice of tomato with one slice of mozzarella, overlapping them slightly. Repeat until all slices are used.
  3. In a small glass or blender, combine the 10 fresh basil leaves with 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil. Blend until completely smooth and the basil is fully incorporated.
  4. Lightly season the layered tomatoes and mozzarella with 1/2 tsp salt. Pour the basil-infused olive oil evenly over the entire salad just before serving.
