Ingredients

  • 200g (1.5 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 200g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 50g (1/2 cup) cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 120ml (1/2 cup) whole milk
  • 115g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cup cornflakes
  • 60g (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
  • 50g (1/4 cup) light brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl
  3. Stir in eggs, milk, and melted butter until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly with a spatula
  5. Mix the cornflakes, melted butter, and brown sugar in a separate bowl until the flakes are evenly coated.
  6. Sprinkle the cornflake mixture over the top of the cake batter
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
