Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna by Dishesbyhannah

Seared ahi tuna filet crusted in toasted sesame seeds with a bright, savory soy-lime dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 340g (12 oz) fresh ahi tuna filet
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine the black and roasted sesame seeds on a shallow plate, mixing them together until evenly distributed.
  2. Press all sides of the ahi tuna filet firmly into the sesame seed mixture to create an even crust until ready to serve.
  3. Heat the sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over high heat until shimmering, about 1 minute.
  4. Sear the tuna for 60-90 seconds per side, ensuring the crust is golden and the center remains rare.
  5. Whisk together the soy sauce, lime juice, and water in a small bowl to create the dipping sauce over medium heat until heated through, about 5 min.
  6. Slice the tuna into 1/2-inch thick pieces and serve immediately with the prepared sauce until ready to serve.
